Popularly known as:
“ THE LITTLE CHURCH OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, RESEARCH & ENLIGHTENMENT CENTRE ” (or if preferred) … AFFECTTIONALLY CALLED ” THE LITTLE CHURCH” A little history of The Centre After a Public meeting which was held at The Arts Theatre, Saint Austell, on 10th October1970, a group of people fostering the promotion of Spiritualist Psychic Development and Healing, formed Saint Austell Spiritualist Group. Meetings were in various places, as home was found at The Cuddra W.I. Hall, Holmebush, where the group remained for several years. In 1981, premises were obtained in Kings Avenue (The Pound House), as a long-awaited home, and the name of The Church of The Holy Spirit Of St Austell was adopted. In 1982, it was decided to adopt the dual titles of THE CHURCH OF THE HOLY SPIRIT and also, THE RESEARCH & ENLIGHTENMENT CENTRE. As the centre was considered to be a teaching group that gives all who join the opportunity to widen horizons both in theory and practice. We are not linked with any particular religion and our philosophy is universal in concept. In 1986, we were privileged to be able to join the ALLIANCE OF HEALING ASSOCIATIONS in our own right, and our healers are bound by the Code of Conduct which is in line with that drawn up by UK Healers. On 7th September 1989, we finally became a Registered Charity 900101. On 14 th August 2000, we signed the Charter of United Religions Initiative UK, to participate in the on-going creation of this global organisation. The URI is a growing global community dedicated to promoting, enduring, daily interfaith co-operation, ending religiously motivated violence and creating cultures of peace, justice and healing for the Earth and all living beings. Our 30th anniversary, 10th October 2010, we dedicated a Peace Pole, outside the Centre. The words “MAY PEACE PREVAIL ON EARTH” are inscribed in four languages, being of which are (English, Cornish, Scottish and Welsh). The purpose is to act as a constant reminder for us to visualize and pray for the World Peace. This project started in Japan in 1955, by Masahisa Goi, is an initiative of the World Peace Prayer Society. There are now over 200,00o poles in 180 countries throughout the world.
